"When you go out to paint, try to forget what objects you have in front of you; a tree, a house, a field or whatever. Merely think here is a little square of blue, here an oblong of pink, here a streak of yellow, and paint it just as it looks to you, the exact colour and shape, until it gives you your own naive impression of the scene before you." Claude Monet
Mel is a 2008 e-merge finalist!! E-merge is Bullseye Glass Co bi-annual competition for emerging artists.
Mel's artist statment: I find the world a beautiful place, with pattern and texture and collusions of color all around. I see beauty in many places and seek to recreate that beauty for others to appreciate through my work. Through the use of some of my more than 400 custom color frit i desire to create Monet like "paintings" using daubs of pure color. In my work i purposely let the 02 and 03 frit remain as daubs that the viewer can associate into familiar objects. |
